Here in Greater Des Moines, it's easy to be a kid. Whether your concept of household fun is a skate park, a smash park, an amusement park, or an actual park, Des Moines is the best escape, no matter if you're young or simply young at heart.

Gee, what could be more fun than spring break with the kids? Those lovely children getting on the sofa, battling with each other, making a mess everywhere they go. It's sufficient to drive a moms and dad wild. So, leave your home. Here's a list of things you can do with the rugrats for totally free, and they're enjoyable, too.

Search for special interpretive tables and posts along tracks around the Peter and Mary Muth Interpretive Center.

Free parking. The program "Planted Creations: Garden Art" is fun for grades 7-12 at the library. 4:30 -6 p.m. Decorate a terracotta pot with paint pens.

Register here: Bring a jacket and delight in the telescopes and expert aid at a "Starr Celebration" at Caspers Wilderness Park from 7-9:30 p.m. There will be stargazing equipment on hand, however you can also bring your own.
